ITINERARY - Chamonix Valley Walking and Hiking Weeks
Daily hiking in the Chamonix Valley, and the surrounding valleys of Italy and Switzerland.

The following day-walks should give you an idea about walking possibilities in the Chamonix valley. There are, of course, many more options. The trekking guide will decide together with the group
which walk to do when, depending on preferences, clients' abilities and weather conditions.
Easy to moderate hike:
We walk from Chamonix to the Flégère lift station in Les Praz, then we take the cable-car up to the mid-station, from where it's not far anymore to Lac Blanc.
Lac Blanc is situated in the Aiguilles Rouges Massif, facing the Mont Blanc Range.
The views of the range are absolutely stunning, and many photos seen in catalogues for
Chamonix and the surroundings have been taken from here. Approximate walking time: 1,5 to 2 hours.
After a hearty picnic lunch at Lac Blanc, followed by fresh blue-berry tarte and coffee, we walk back down to the mid-station and take the lift down to save our knees.
Van transfer back to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 3,4 to 4 hours max. Moderate walking, good trails
Longer hike:
We transfer from Chamonix to the Col des Montets, and walk up to Lac Blanc from here.
The walk is a balcony walk with amazing views over the whole Chamonix valley and the Mont Blanc Range. We
then walk back to the mid-station of the Flégère lift-system, and take the lift down to the valley floor. Van transfer back to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 5-7 hours
Steep uphill at the beginning, traverse to Lac Blanc, including easy chains and ladders.
Transfer from Chamonix through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Courmayeur on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc Range. We will have time to explore the little, charming village and sample some real Italian espresso.
Easy to moderate hike:
We walk from Courmayeur up to the Bertone refuge for a coffee, then take the traverse back to Planpicieux, from where we transfer back to Courmayeur for some more free time, or directly back to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 4 hours, one steep up-hill at the beginning, the rest of the walk is a gentle downhill/traverse for long periods.
Longer hike:
We walk from Courmayeur up to the Bertone refuge for a coffee, then walk up the Mont de la Saxe ridge to the Bonatti hut, lunch will be a delicious picnic with Italian delicacies on the way. Then we walk back down to La Vachey, transfer by van back to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 6-7 hours
One steep up-hill at the beginning, then ups and downs.
Easy to moderate hike:
Transfer from Chamonix to Vallorcine, then we walk from Vallorcine up to Loriaz for lunch, and take another way back down, transfer from Vallorcine back to Chamonix.
Total walking time: approx. 5 hours, gentle terrain.
Long hike:
Walk from Vallorcine up to Loriaz, then carry on to the Col de la Terrasse, back down via Tres-les-Eaux.
This is a long day of 7-8 hours of walking, including some chains down a slab at the end. Absolutely stunning, but only for experienced walkers.
Total walking time: 6-8 hours, chains, steep ups and downs. Experienced walkers only.
Easy to moderate hike:
Transfer from Chamonix to the Col de Forclaz.
Walking along the Bovine trail to Champex, Switzerland.
Relaxing at the lake, then transfer back by van to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 5 hours, more gentle terrain
Longer hike:
Transfer from Chamonix to the Col de Forclaz.
Walk up to the Fenetre d'Arpette, then back down to Champex, Switzerland.
Relaxing at the lake, then transfer back by van to Chamonix.
Total walking time: 7 hours, with steep ups and downs
