The Canadian Rockies are an amazing place to experience the outdoors for our budding mountaineers and skiers, Anna and Enzo.
Winter 2011 saw abundant snowfall and we took full advantage of our family pass at Mount Norquay, our local ski hill. We are all gearing up for another great ski season in the Rockies.

Both kids will be joining the Banff Alpine Racers this year and both are eager climbers with the climbing team at The Banff Centre. It won’t be long now before they will be leading us up a mountain climb!

We did manage a family holiday to the Greek island of Crete spending 3 weeks in May indulging in fine food, lots of sun and a rather chilly Libyan Sea. Great to be back among friends!

Summer was a blur for all of us. Karin was holding down the fort and working hard for the Film and Media Department at the Banff Centre while I was away guiding.
Karin is back with the Banff Film Festival as the Film Coordinator but will only be working part-time, which should give her the opportunity once again, to put her managerial and technical skills to use in the Alpine Interface office.

2011 has been our most successful year since the inception of Alpine Interface in 2001 and we would like to thank all of you for making this possible.

Once again, many of you have returned to join us for hiking and cultural journeys, putting your trust is our guiding skills and our knowledge of the Alps.

Reflecting back upon this summer, we have come to appreciate how fortunate we are to be able to spend time in the mountains with so many interesting people from all over the globe, exchanging ideas, swapping stories and embarking on many unforgettable journeys.

This year, our guests have hailed from as far away as Singapore and Australia and closer to home, Vancouver and Edmonton.

Travel is really our passion and we are constantly striving to find new destinations for you to discover with us.

September 2012: Haute Route Photographic Workshop
This will be a guided Walker's Haute Route, the photographic workshop will be mentored by Craig Richards.
Our guests will gain an appreciation and insight into the cultural and historical importance of the Valais, Switzerland. We will also begin to understand how to create images that express not where we have been but what we feel about where we are.
Craig is a professional photographer based in the Canadian Rockies.
He has been using a 4X5 camera and traditional silver gelatin printing process for the last 30 years, making for unique images, which have won accolades and prizes for many years now, one of which is the prestigious Banff Mountain Festival Summit of Excellence Award.

January 2012: Patagonia - Wild & Scenic
From the vibrant tango bars of Buenos Aires to the granite spires of Fitzroy, our journey will take us to some of the most amazing landscapes South America has to offer. Most hikes will be moderate in difficulty with accommodation in comfortable inns and hotels and with several nights of camping just so you remember where you actually are. The trips will be led by Marcos Couch, a IFMGA mountain guide who is both Argentinean and American.
