Alpine Interface: Scotland Walking and Hiking Travel Links
Many of our guests who come to Scotland for an Alpine Interface trip arrive there either a few days earlier, or stay on after their hike.
And often, we get the same questions regarding where to eat, what else there is to do in town, how to get there, etc.
The following list is a quick summary of where to get more information, favorite hotels, restaurants, travel links, etc.
We will update this page regularly, and welcome any comments/information you might have regarding our links.
SCOTLAND
How to get there?
By far the easiest solution is to fly to Inverness, and then take the train to Newtonmore.
However, airports such as Glasgow and Edinburgh have more international flights arriving and departing, and it might be easier to book flights that go to one of these airports.
From both airports it is easy to take the train to get to Newtonmore, and in case the train doesn't stop there, it will in Kingussie, which is 3 km from Newtonmore. Depending on which time you will be arriving, we will either pick you up at the train station, or send a taxi to bring you to Newtonmore from Kingussie.
Our last night will be spent in Glasgow. The easiest would be to fly into Inverness or Edinburgh, and then leave from Glasgow.
To book a train or to have a look at the train schedule, please have a look at the British Rail website.
Another very good website for travel to, from and within Scotland is Visit Scotland's travel section.
