Swiss and Italian Alps - Hiking Photo Workshop
- The Alps through the Lens: Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa
The Alps through the Lens is a combination of a guided hiking trip and a photography workshop in the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa regions of the Swiss and Italian Alps. Working closely with Craig Richards, one of western Canada's most respected landscape and portrait photographers, we will get an opportunity to learn from a true professional.
Our days will be spent hiking and enjoying some of the most spectacular vistas the western Alps have to offer: Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Monte Rosa Massif.
This particular itinerary has been chosen for the wealth of photographic opportunities, from dramatic mountain landscape to ancient Walser villages perched high on mountain sides. Originally from Switzerland, the Walsers colonized the southern slopes of the Monte Rosa Massif bringing along their unique architecture, language and culture.
With a maximum group size of 8 participants, Craig will be able to spend considerable time with each photographer, discussing the finer points of both landscape and portrait photography, followed by evening sessions to further develop the day's themes.
You will begin to understand how to create images that express not where we have been but what we feel about it.
The trip offers cozy alpine refuges, authentic, family-run hotels, and outstanding landscapes in order to compliment this one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn photography from one of North America's leading professionals.

We will be staying in 13 hotels including the spectacular Hotel Weisshorn, and two mountain huts.

2. Chamonix - Saas Fee (10 days)

We will be staying in 7 hotels including the spectacular Hotel Weisshorn, and two mountain huts.
Luggage will be delivered throughout the trip, excluding the two mountain huts.
3. Saas Fee - Zermatt (8 days)
July 30 - 06, 2012
Price: US$ 4350 (CAD$ 4350)
Single supplement: US$ 400 (CAD$ 400)
Details/Accommodation:
We will be staying in hotels only, luggage will be delivered each day.
Included in the price:
- Hiking guide (we only hire certified International Mountain Leaders)
- Mentoring by professional photographer Craig Richards
- Luggage except to mountain huts
- All accommodation

- All lifts and transports
- Detailed information package including day-to-day itinerary with elevation gains/descents, and a hiking map of the region
